BEACHES
Wild, natural beaches, with blond or black sand…
The Grande Anse/DESHAIES
Our favorite beach is also why we built our villa right above it. Often cited as one of the most beautiful beaches in Guadeloupe and sometimes even in the world, it is located 2 km north of the village of Deshaies. Its splendidly rounded strip of sand against a backdrop of tropical forest, its coconut trees, its yellow-orange sand, its mythical sunset…
There are many small local restaurants, in the shade of coconut trees, a beach club, Karakoli and even kayaks to visit the mangrove, behind the beach.
Be careful though, the currents can be very strong, and the powerful waves making swimming dangerous during periods of swell.
On the horizon, on a clear day, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Montserrat.
Tillet beach/DESHAIES
Charming little cove, located just after Sainte-Rose, below the road to Deshaies, Tillet beach is a natural site. You cannot access it by car, you have to walk 5 minutes in the undergrowth to get there. But that’s what makes it a more intimate beach than the others. It offers beautiful areas shaded by grape trees and coconut trees, perfect for taking a nap. The sea can be rough there.
This wild cove enjoys a magnificent view of the Kahouanne islet.
Anse de la Perle/DESHAIES
Next to the hamlet of Rifflet, La Perle beach is very similar to Grande Anse: same fine golden sand, same lush vegetation and beautiful turquoise water. Smaller and more intimate, you will still find some small snacks and pleasant restaurants there. Swimming is safe, except when the sea is rough when caution is required. Offshore, in good weather, you can admire the “English head” islet whose name comes from its shape of an English colonial helmet, which served as a shooting target for the French Navy during the War. of the Antilles, in the 18th century, and the Kahouanne islet, which takes its name from the Loggerhead turtles which come to breed there.
Malendure beach/DESHAIES
It is a unique beach in Guadeloupe. Located in the hamlet of Malendure, in the Cousteau Reserve area, it is here that we find the largest scuba diving spot on the island. But the beach is best known for its black volcanic sand. Be careful of your feet, the sand is hot once heated by the sun!
The main attraction of the beach remains snorkeling, where you will undoubtedly be able to see turtles swimming in the seagrass beds which cover the seabed.
And that’s not all, you have the view of the Pigeon islets which offer a magnificent panorama, especially at sunset.
